Makers Foundation, a registered non – profit organisation in Manipur (North East, India), was established in the year 2008 to work with different marginalised communities ensuring their participation, involvement leading to empowerment. The foundation envisioned a future where ever individual, family or community has an opportunity to live life with good health, education, decent food, clothes and shelter.

The mission of the foundation is to build as many Community Resources and Community Assets by empowering the community through their engagement and involvement.

The main initiatives and achievement of the foundation include; establishing IPA IBUNGO ALCOHOL & DRUG DE ADDICTION & REHABILITATION CENTRE (2017) and a MID WAY HOME (2019) with INCOME GENERATING PROGRAMME (IGP) in the state of Manipur for Alcohol and Drug Use community.

The Rehabilitation Centre which is currently 50 bedded caters to different residential and non-residential care & treatment services. The Mid way Home which is 30 bedded with Income Generation Programme (IGP) was constructed and built by the rehabilitated community from the Rehabilitation Centre. The structure (including the infrastructure) and programme are self-funded and is now sustainable.

The foundation initiated Skill building programme with AkZONOBEL, India and Global Hunt amongst the community of substance users in the state of Manipur. More than 300 substance users in the state were skill build in the area decorative painting, which including providing jobs and livelihood to the sub population. This initiative has touched significant individuals and families who were affected with alcohol and drug use in the state, providing treatment, care, skill building, livelihood and education.

The Foundation is awarded (2022 - 23) with approval by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India (GOI), to set up Community Radio Station (CRS) in the state of Manipur (Imphal West). The primary objective of the setting up CRS by the organization is to give voice to the vulnerable and marginalized community in the state. The Programme will include various social issues including, but not limited to; ranging from Drug and alcohol use, Climate Change, Woman (Gender issues) and Children, Health issues, Urban and Rural divide, Education and whole of other pertinent issues affecting the people in day to day lives.

The organisation is seeking and looking out for willing donors who can fund (part or whole) and partner different initiatives, activities and programme of the organisation.
